Hello,
I have 2 21700 Li-on batteries in series for my application. I created a board using the BQ25887 which works okay, but the balancing portion isn't the best if the batteries have several hundred mV difference.
That got me thinking - can I just use 2 single cell charge ICs such as the BQ24045 and get the same if not better results? Is there any harm in doing this? Without the need of an inductor, it looks like the footprint will be about the same.
Thoughts?
