BQ25713: several questions

Part Number: BQ25713

Hi Team,

please kindly help check below questions.

1. BQ25713 has OOA mode.  In OOA mode, will load transient be worse? Is the loop compensation similar with non-OOA mode or different control loop?   Is there simple scheme introduction on how to achieve OOA mode?

2. peak power mode.

a. datasheet mentioned  that peak power mode is always on when Tovld= Tmax, then no Ilim1, only Ilim2, right?

b. when Tmax > Tovld, datasheet mentioned " fter TMAX, if the load is still high, another peak power cycle starts", is there response time between the two peak power cycle? If there is and the response time is beyond deglitch time of PROCHOT, then it may stop switching which is not good for real application.

3. ACX_OCP

there is 150mV and 280mV option. if using 10m ohm, then 150mV/10m ohm = 15A which is beyond the charger capability, then why does the threshold set to such high?

4. ACOC_VTH

it can be set to 2x Ilimi2, which is beyond Icrit, then what's the use of this?  And is it the OCP for MOS Q1?

5. BATOC_VTH

what's the deglitch time on this threshold?  if VBAT_ADC is disabled, will BATOC still work?

Thanks.

  • Hi Given,

There are quite a few questions regarding the datasheet. Let us get back to you next week.

  • Hi Tiger,

OK. looking forward to your feedback. Thanks.

  • Hi Given,

I noticed several concepts are mixed, although they are not related. My suggest is to get an EVM and check it out in the lab.

    1. OOA is not related with transient or compensation loop. See datasheet for more details.

    2. If TOVLD=TMAX, it looks constant overloading, why not set the ILIM1 high and disable peak power mode? There is no delay between two overload cycles.

    3. ACX_OCP level is set high, it is for protection purpose. The IINDPM should be working before the protection is activated.

    4. ACOC_VTH: Set MOSFET OCP threshold as percentage of IDPM with current sensed from RAC. It is for protection purpose.

    5. BATOC_VTH: Set battery discharge overcurrent threshold as percentage of PROCHOT battery discharge current limit. I did not see any deglitch time in the datasheet. It works even if VBAT_ADC is disabled.
