BQ24230: URGENT help needed

Hi, I designed a car battery operated device, with BQ24230RGTT. As per the data sheet maximum input voltage 28V . I assumed that BQ24230RGTT will can operate at 24V or 12V vehicles.

We produced a High volume of PCB, but the components are not populated . I found that the IC stop to work above 5V. 13.5 and 26V test not working at all. No heat no damage when I reduced the input voltage to 5V

As the 50K of PCB's already manufactured. I need pin to pin replacement part. resistors may need to recalculate too, I am using very different size on LiPo batteries on same circuit., 0.5Ah 1Ah 2.5Ah 10AH, 13Ah

R17 not populated unless two wires batteries used.

Hi Haim,

The 25V value you found is the tolerance for the pin but not the maximum operating voltage. Our IC's have overvoltage protection. The BQ24230 will protect at about 6.6 V. Our max pin to pin capable part has an OVP setting of 10.5 V. This would be the BQ24232.

Hi Anthony,

In that case, is to put at side all PCBs and select another package OVP around 30V. New layout need. Which part number can you suggesting?

, I am using very different size on LiPo batteries on same charger circuit for 8 different products., Depending the model various battery sizes of 0.5Ah 1Ah 2.5Ah 10AH, 13Ah . Probaly the resistor values should be different for each battery size

Hi Haim,

Are you look to charge all of these batteries at the same charge current and regulation voltage?

I can look into some suggestions once I get this information. You're also free to look at ti.com/chargers

Based on your previous reply and the mention of a 26 V test, you may be looking at the BQ25723 to get you started. Let me know if you have any further questions.
