BQ76942: Problem with the measurement of BQ76942

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

Hi Experts,

Posting on behalf of my customer who has some problems when using BQStudio.

The picture shows the data monitored by BQ76942(I use the BQStudio):

I connected three batteries, and the voltage of each battery is around 4V.

But the data measured by the chip is far from the actual situation (the voltage of cell1 is 0.2V and the voltage of cell2 is 1.7V).

I don't know if it's my circuit design problem. The picture below shows the circuit I designed.

I wonder if it is the measurement error caused by the circuit design.

If your company can give advice, I will be very grateful.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hello Archie,

Do they have the Vcell Mode register configured properly?

To do a sanity check, please measure the voltage at the Cells input and also at the VCx pins (VC10-VC9, VC2-VC1, VC1-VC0). The VCx pins should match to the voltage at the cells.

I do not see anything alarming in the schematic. I see they shorted the correct cells. The only thing I see is the labeling, see below (nothing serious but is not consistent, might bring confusion).

  • Thank you, Jose.

Sorry to keep you waiting so long. The problem has been solved. It is indeed a register configuration problem raised.

    Thanks a lot.
