BQ76200: BQ76200 PMON_EN function issue

Part Number: BQ76200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350

Hi Team,

Under charging and discharging conditions,
Is it feasible to detect PACK+ voltage every second for 10ms?
Is there any limit on detection frequency and time?

  • Hello Kevin,

The PMON_EN function is feasible for charging detection or to implement advanced charging control. So, PMON_EN is used for charging, it senses the voltage at PACK+ and this voltage gets scaled down through PACKDIV. See below

Note: To reduce power consumption, the PMON_EN should be enabled only when PACK+ voltage measurement is needed.

I would say this depends on the host device. For instance, when this device is used with the BQ78350, PACKDIV connects to VAUX pin (a pin from the BQ78350). This VAUX pin is an additional voltage measurement and measures the voltage every 1-s. This can also be done with a MCU.

It might require a few tests to know if every second for 10ms work, but I think is feasible.
