TPS63060: About inrush current

Hi team,

An inrush current of approximately 3 A was observed from the TPS63060 during startup in a circuit using the TPS63060.
The control current of this device is set at 2.25A, but if it is an instantaneous inrush current at startup, would 3A flow through the upper part of the device?
The steady-state operating current is about 400~500mA.

What do you mean the upper part of device? do you mean the upper FET internal?

You are welcome, Please feel free to let me know your concerns.

Could you help to confirm if this 3A is observed during the rising eage of input voltage? if so, part of this 3A inrush current is used to charge the input cap, but not only go through the device.

Hi Ryu,

The actual iinrush current will be limited by device. the maximum inrush current will not go higher than current limit.

If you mean the charging current for input cap. it will be limited by ESR of cap and the parasitic inductor and resister of cable from power supply to your board.

For cap itself, you can find this date from DS. it will very high and impossible to hit mostly.
