UC1825: spice model

Part Number: UC1825
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC2842

I was looking for a spice model for the UC1825. I saw this response(https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1077855/uc1823-ltspice-model-download?cm_session=e327f2e3-45c6-46c7-abf4-01c6a3fecd96&cm_type=link&cm_link=216409fb-45f0-4445-ad3e-446e17d4a9f2&utm_campaign=e327f2e3-45c6-46c7-abf4-01c6a3fecd96&utm_medium=email&utm_source=contactmonkey&utm_content=sales%201%3a1&utm_term=RE%3a+UC1823+Spice+Model) but when I go to the uc1825 device, it does not call out the buck configuration as a recommended topology for this device as this is how I intend to use the device. Do you know why that is?

Thanks,
Adam

  • Adam,

UC1825 is a legacy PWM dual output controller. Many of the functions necessary for using this controller in a buck are either not present or not easily compatible. Even for a single output, legacy, controller such as UC2842 you would still need to level shift the output to drive the high-side MOSFET of a buck but once this is achieved, there is no SYNC, CS or load sharing between phases like what must be overcome with a dual output PWM such as UC1825.
