LP5009: programmable current limitation for each channel

Hi,

LP5569 has a feature to limit the current for each channel individually. Is this also possible with LM5009?

For example with LM5009, if I use an RIREF to set the global current limitation for all channels to 16mA.
Then if I program one of the OUTn_COLOR register to 0x40hex (25% brightness), the current limit for this specific channel is then at 4mA?
Is my understanding correct?

Thanks a lot & Best Regards,
KF

  • Hi KF,

    Nice to hear you!

The output current can only be set by Rref, both LEDn_Brightness and OUTn_Color rigisters are used to control 12-bits PWM duty cycle.

So, for your application, when you program one of the OUTn_COLOR register to 0x40hex (25% brightness), the current limit for this specific channel is still 16mA, and the average current controlled by PWM is 4mA.

    Thanks!

    BR,
