LM61460: How to define the minimum input voltage?

Part Number: LM61460

Hello expert,

For the datasheet I have some question below:

1.VOUT adjustable from 1 V to 95% of VIN——what is the input voltage and output power for this case?I test my board with Vo=7V and find the Vin min is 7.9V to ensure this output,it is just 89.5%.A big gap from 95%.

2.0.4-V dropout with 4-A load (typical)——Is this conflict with the statement 1?

3.High side MOSFET RDS(ON) 41 82 mΩ——Is this conflict with the statement 1? When output 6A,even the duty is 100%,the HS mos will create a voltage drop of 0.49V. ——Is this conflict with the statement 1 too?

So,how to define the minimum input voltage when Vo=7V,consider the worse case?

  • Hi,

The minimum input voltage for a regulated Vo=7V is dependent on IOUT and FSW. You are basically looking for the dropout point here.

An example of 3.3V in the datasheet is detailed below for both 400kHz and 2.1MHz.

From the sounds of what you've tested, your minimum input voltage should be 7.9V for a regulated Vo=7V with the expected switching frequency.

    Regards,

    Jimmy
