TPS546B24A: Stackability

Part Number: TPS546B24A

Hi,

Does the part TPS546B24A power up without PMBus programming in 2x stacked configuration?

For stacking any PMBus configuration is required?

Regards,

Sahal

    Yes

    No.

The Stack Controller device, whose VOSNS and GOSNS are connected to the output will require it's MSEL2 pin to be programmed to be the controller of a 2-phase stack.  Depending on the current limit and soft-start timing desired, this can be achieved by floating the MSEL2 pin (20A Over Current Warning, 26A Over Current Fault, 3ms TON_RISE) or with a resistor to AGND.

The Stack Follower device, whose GOSNS is pulled up to it's BP1V5 voltage will require it's MSEL2 pin to be programmed to be device 2 of a 2-phase stack.  Depending on the current limit desired, this can be achieved by floating the MSEL2 pin, shorting it to AGND, or programming it with a resistor to AGND.

Make sure to follow the pin connections as detailed in table 7-5.
