TPS92633: Would like to combine the two outputs into one output

Part Number: TPS92633

Hi team,

My customer would like to combine the two outputs into one output. From the below thread, I understand that it is possible to do.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1125439/tps92633-q1-parallel-outputs-of-2xtps92633?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=TPS92633#

In this thread, "utilize the RES resistors to make sure the power dissipation is shared." What do you mean?

Best regards,

Shunsuke Yamamoto

  • Hello Yamamoto-san,

Paralleling outputs is possible and supported to achieve higher currents. What this refers to is to join the channels after the parallel resistances such that the output current of each channel can be independently controlled and the chip uses the RES output to share the the power dissipation outside of the device. Essentially, pick the resistor in the RES output proportionally to what each channel current will be such that the total parallel current is to the desired level.

    Does this clarify your question?
