One question (see copy below), attached is the EVM board file of this device UCC12040deV for your easy reference.
this schematic below shows that there is C5 capacitance between primary and 2ndry side GND, which seems not a real physical capacitor, but made of by PCB board layout techniques, by overlapping primary side and 2ndry side GND layer.
My question is, if we do not use PCB layout techniques to make this equivalent C5 capacitor effects as shown below,
Do we need to add an extra external physical capacitor to fulfill this requirement like C5 capacitor does or not?
i.e. this device needs a capacitor between Primary and 2ndry GND or not in order to work well?

Hi Yenwu,
The C5 capacitor was put into the layout in order to ensure the EVM could have passing EMI results. If you do not wish to copy the EVM layout, it would be a good idea to put some pads on the PCB to be able to add in a physical C5 just in case you see EMI issues in your design.
