UCC27282-Q1: EN pin

Part Number: UCC27282-Q1

Hello Experts,

My customer is interested in this device and have question as follows. Would you answer it, please?
1. This device has three package option. D and DDA package don't have EN-pin. DRC package has EN-pin. Why is different?
2. Regarding EVM, there is R1(2.2ohm) on VDD input. The datasheet mentioned that this is a filter for high frequency noise and recommended value is 1ohm. Is R1 for this purpose?

Best Regards,
Fujiwara

  • Hey Fujiwara,

    Thank you for your question!

Here is what I have come up with for each question:

    1. For the packages of type D and DDA, these are configured to be pin to pin for replacement with other parts of ours and our competitors. The DRC package type is a configuration that utilizes an enable pin and is a pin to pin replacement for parts that utilize an enable pin. Also, the enable pin requires more room and extra pinning so the 8-pin type do not have a location to implement enable. That is why the DRC package is a 10-pin configuration.

    2. You are correct in that the R1 resistor on the VDD input is used as a filter. It is also for current limiting and short circuit protection on the bias rail. With the higher resistance of 2.2 Ohm vs 1 Ohm, it helps to limit more current and protect the device even greater during testing with the EVM. This R1 resistor may not be required and is on the EVM for debugging purposes.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you,

    William
