TPS65911: Input voltage for external FETs of VDDCtrl

Part Number: TPS65911

Hi support team,
Continuing from the "Original question" above.

Why does "TPS65911A Typical Application" recommend 12V or less?

Is it to ensure ON DUTY of about 10%?
Is it to avoid lower conversion efficiency?

  • Hi Dice-K,

The intent of this diagram is just to provide an example of a typical use case for the PMIC. The =< 12V represents the most commonly seen voltage inputs for power systems, but the datasheet specifies that more voltage is certainly possible if needed for your application (up to 25V).

There isn't a specific reason this 12V range was selected other than the fact that 12V is a commonly used input voltage, along with 9V, 5V, and 3.3V options.

    Regards,

    James
