BQ27742-G1: FET enable override

Part Number: BQ27742-G1

Hello,

In the datasheet and TRM, there is reference to being able to override the FETs to open them via firmware instructions (See Section 2.2.2.2.1.1 NORMAL Mode in the datasheet):

FET enable override capability is available to the fuel gauge to force the CHG or DSG FET open based on
firmware instruction. It is useful for firmware-defined safety features or other special functionality that
requires one or both FETs to be opened based on specific conditions.

Try as I might, I cannot find a command or other reference for how to actually do this. The closest thing I found was Section 4.2.12 ProtectorStatus(): 0x6D which has a bit showing the status of it, but Table 4-6- Extended Commands state that this is a Read only value.

The only other relevant thing I could find was the FET Test (Section 4.2.16 of the TRM) but this apparently only works in UNSEALED mode (See also 4.1.1.22 of TRM). How can I control the FETs during normal operation (SEALED) such that I can implement a shutdown of the pack voltage on some conditions determined by firmware?

Best regards,
Christopher
