Hi,

We are designing the switching regulator (28V to 40V) input and output voltage 15V, 2A.

Will LM5160ADNTR guarantee to give output voltage 15V, output 2A?

pls, review the schematic. share your comments. what will be the power dissipation inside IC for 15V,2A current?

Hi,

Will 2A be continuous? If so the circuit above will not be able to support. The current limit of LM5160A is 2.5A typical and 2.125 min. You have to choose a large enough inductor to keep the ripple small, otherwise current limit will be triggered. Will you consider other solutions like LM76002 and LMR38020?

Hi I have selected 100uH, 2.5A inductor. I need 1.8A current continuously. Will it support?

Hi,

It will be too close to the limit with the current setting. Iripple=Vo/L*(1-Vo/Vin)/Fsw. Can you increase the frequency to like 350kHz? Make sure Io+1/2Iripple is below the current limit. If frequency is set higher to 350kHz, current 68uH is OK.
