LM25116: short circuit current

Part Number: LM25116

LM (2) 5116 / WG Quick Start Component Calculator "Step 2 current limit" short circuit current is the current value that flows only once for a short time (less than 10 us?) when shorted. ?
Or is it something that repeats every second?

  • Hello nnn

The device is able to enter a hiccup mode and shutdown after 256 consecutive cycles of current limit.

  • What does the short circuit current in the Step 2 current limit item on the first sheet of the Quick Start Component Calculator provided by TI's HP represent?
Is not that exceeding the Average Load Current terminate the current cycle and turn off the output MOSFET?
So I don't think there will be any more current flowing...
The value of short circuit current is greater than Average Load Current.
Does this mean that the current will instantaneously flow up to this value when short-circuited?

  • Hello nnn

For example, this means the inductor peak current can reach up to 26.1A during the 256 cycles of current limiting when the VOUT is short-circuited.
