We're considering using an ANY-OUT LDO and an I2C IO Expander, such as outlined in appnote SBVA035A, to change the LDO output setting under firmware control. What's not clear to us is if this can be done on the fly, while the LDO is under load. Is this mode of operation acceptable?
Thanks,
Scott
Hi Scott,
If you are trying to change the setpoint while the LDO is operating under load, then yes, this should be fine. Keep in mind that if the LDO is lightly loaded and you switch from a high Vout to a low Vout, it will take time to discharge Cout based on the light load.
Thanks,
Stephen
