Hello Expert,
We need to get part information of floating gate driver for SiC MOSFET (Wolfspeed) asap.
We have an insufficient information about specification to choose gate driver.
Here is customer's requested features.
1. This application is for Buck type.
2. Negative power supply is possible.
3. Floating Gate Driver.
Please recommend a product that satisfies the above 3 conditions first.
If you recommend 2 or 3 products that are most commonly used, we will review the application.
Is this UCC21530 part available?
Additionally, please let us know if you have any additional information needed to select the most suitable product.
Best Regards,
Michael
Hi Michael,
TI of course has integrated buck regulator chips for ~100Vin. Is a discrete design required for a higher voltage and power buck converter?
A synchronous buck converter will look like a half bridge inverter, so I would start with the UCC21551. It is a two channel driver with a hardware deadtime, with a respectable drive strength and no added output features.
UCC21530 is being replaced with the UCC21551, which has several important improvements, including lower cost.
It would be helpful to know what the Wolfspeed SiC FET is, the input voltage, and the switching current (or output power).
There are some helpful application circuits in the UCC21530 datasheet, that also apply to the P2P upgrade, to help you get started. Please feel free to reach out for more design support as you learn more information.
Best regards,
Sean
