LMR14050: WEBENCH Invalid Design Error

Part Number: LMR14050

Hi,

1. Could LMR14050 output stable 0.1 - 5A for all Vout range (0.75 - 38V)?

2. In webench design, some Vin, Vout and Iout combinations are invalid. Where can I get the error message so that I could figure out the root cause and fix the issue? For example, the following 2 combinations are invalid. What are the reasons?

Vin=4-40V, Vout=38V, Iout=5A is invalid.

Vin=4-40V, Vout=0.75V, Iout=5A is invalid.

3. For the desired Vout and Iout, is there any tool could tell me the required Vin range directly?

4. I cannot request software "PSpice for TI" from TI website. Could you help me to solve this issue?

Thanks

  • Hi Steven,

    You are right about some design parameter combinations being invalid. I will raise this issue with the Webench team.

    In addition, what problems are you encountering with the PSPICE download? Usually you will need to login and request the software.

    Regards,

    Henry

  • Hi Steven,

    The Webench team responded and said that the low VIN parameters caused the design to fail.

    Therefore, I tried with a nominal VIN of 40V, and I was able to get a couple simulations for your design, but only at IOUT = 4A. Above that, the junction temperature became too high.

    Here is the simulation link: https://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator/simulate/21
