TPS7A8101-Q1: ICT test--pin reverse current capability check

Part Number: TPS7A8101-Q1

hello,

May you let me know the internal ESD diode's reverse current capability? It's used for ICT purpose to detection the solder connection, i think it shall survive with few mA, saying 1.5mA. pls confirm, thanks.

  • Hi Dongbao,

Generally when we are testing for continuity we push ~100uA of current through which gives confidence that connection has been properly made. In terms of abs max, there isn't a real spec as it's a voltage and current spec, In this case we know that multiple mA can be pushed through the ESD cells, however if by pushing those cells to that current you push the FB/SNS or EN pin voltage to exceed abs max, that is when there is a problem, in ESD events the energy is so limited as the time is so brief, however in testing you must be careful to not exceed the -0.3V abs max or risk damaging the cells and hence the device.

    Regards,
