TPS2378: Package drawing

Part Number: TPS2378

Dear TI support,

TPS2378 datasheet contains 2 different package drawings: DDA0008A on pages 31-33, DDA (R-PDSO-G8) on pages 34-36. These drawings have differences. So I need to know what DDA package TI really uses for TPS2378.

TI offers just 1 package variant for TPS2378. There is link to package drawing "HSOIC (DDA)" but the document is empty.

Please let me know what package is valid for TPS2378 or provide the DDA drawing.

I believe the package is DDA8. And you can refer the datasheet's page 30 - 33 for the package.

Hi Diang,

I'm curious, so is "DDA (R-PDSO-G8)" an old package which is no longer used and latest package which TI uses is " DDA0008A"? I just want to understand why datasheet shows 2 different drawing, especially the difference in thermal pad is main reason why I need to clarify that for correct PCB footprint design. Does TI have a newer version of document below with the drawing?

Hi Libor,

Thanks for your reply. I saw the IC size is always 5.8 x 4.8 mm. The difference are the examples of board layout. I think either of examples should work.

Hi Diang,

the dimensions are the same except thermal pad, recommended PCB footprints have thermal pad area 2.34x2.34mm vs 2.4x3.1mm. I checked TPS2378 sample and it has package with 2.4x3.1mm thermal pad so we will have our design ready for the bigger thermal pad. It is resolved.
