TPS929121-Q1: Is it possible to connect outputs in parallel to increase output current?

Part Number: TPS929121-Q1

Is it possible to connect outputs in parallel to increase output current?  We are using an LED that has a higher current than this chip can provide.  Is it possible to program to outputs the same and connect them to increase the max output current?

Second Question, can you leave unused outputs disconnected or is there a termination that is preferred?

  • Hello David,

Yes to both, you can absolutely parallel channels to achieve higher current. Just know that when programming the device you should take into account how many channels you are paralleling and set each channel's current to be a 1/n of the desired total current with n being the total channels in parallel.

No need for a special termination for the outputs. You can leave them disconnected without an issue and is in fact the way that the EVM is set up.

    Best,

    Pedro Arango Ramirez.
