BQSTUDIO: Advanced Comm SMB

Problem concerns the use of bqStudio 1.3.101. In the Advanced Comm SMB tab, I cannot read the Chemistry ID correctly.

Following your document sluuav7c.pdf, page 11

Reading Chemical ID() (0x0006) via ManufacturerAccess()

Send Chemical ID() to ManufacturerAccess()

– SMBus Write Word. Command = 0x00. Date sent = 00 06

Read the result from ManufacturerData()

– SMBus Read Block. Command = 0x23. Data read = 00 01

– That is 0x0100, chem ID 100.

I always get this value - 80 61 00 00.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello Pawel,

Please make sure you have unsealed the device and given full access.

To read the ChemID please refer to the example outlined in section 12.1 0x00 ManufacturerAccess() and 0x44 ManufacturerBlockAccess() from bq40z50 Technical Reference Manual (Rev. A), (see the images below).

Hello Pawel,

Can you ensure you have the Auto Refresh turned off (see the image below).

Please follow the steps below:

Unseal the device and give full access
Turn off Auto Refresh (by clicking the Auto Refresh box on the upper left corner)
Write 06 00 using write block
Read block
