LM61495-Q1: all function (voltage output, protect mechanism )in normal operation mode if 98% duty

Part Number: LM61495-Q1

Hi TI expert,

I would like to ask a genernal question for all power VR.

Just use LM61495-Q1 to do an example.

VIN 9~16V , VOUT 8.82V  operation frequency 400Khz

when VIN=9V ,VOUT 8.82V(duty 98%), in this moment whether VR work normally?

thanks.

looking forward your kindly reply.

Willam.

  • Hi William,

It would depend on the load current.

Once the needed duty factor cannot be achieved at the selected clock frequency due to the existence of a minimum off-time, frequency drops to maintain regulation. If input voltage is low enough that the output voltage cannot be regulated, the output voltage drops to slightly below input voltage.

For reference, see the dropout curve for 5Vout|400kHz below. Note that the dropout point of inflection is dependent on the load current, the higher the load current the earlier the inflection point is. 10A application will dropout earlier than 5A and so on.

I would suggest taking an EVM and evaluating the part for your desire application and input voltage range.

    Regards,

    Jimmy
