TPS7H1111-SP: How to use OUTS for remote sensing when paralleling 2 devices for higher current capability

Part Number: TPS7H1111-SP

Hi experts

Can someone comment on how to use OUTS for remote sensing when paralleling 2 devices to support higher load current needs?

Thanks,

Jim B

  • Hey Jim,

I would like to correct/clarify my previous statement.
With the inclusion of ballast resistors needed for paralleling LDOs remote sensing will generally no longer work.

While the sensing can be done near the load in order to get some of the parasitic resistance out of the measurement, since the ballast resistor always be needed between OUTS and the load, remote sensing is generally not useful except to have very accurate ballast resistor values.

If they are paralleling and they need this level of accuracy for the ballast resistor my previous statement connecting the nodes together and bringing it close to the load  will hold.
The ballast resistor will also need to be near the load between the load and OUTS
However the offset generated by the ballast resistor will always be needed in order to have proper current sharing.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Thanks Daniel

Understood. Will discuss with the rest of the team today.

    We really appreciate your support.
