BQ24230: Shut-down system automatically, when connect or disconnect by USB cable

Part Number: BQ24230

Dear TI,

I have developing the Battery charge with BQ24230.

Our device is that payment terminal and there are inside battery(3.7V, 920mAH).

We also need the compliance to USB-IF Standard, that's why i choose the BQ24230.

Problem thing is that when i connect with PC during working the Terminal,

the terminal is shut-down automatically, and when re-turn off/on the switch, it does work.

Disconnect is same.

Could you please let me know how to fix this problem?

I have attached currently circuit.

Sincerely Yours

Seok

  • Hi Seok,

I'm not quite sure I understand. Can you clarify what you are referring to by Terminal? Do you mean the OUT voltage? Can you provide your waveforms to better show the problem?

    Best Regards,

    Anthony Pham

  • Hi Anthony,

    Sorry for not enough explain.

Let me prepare waveforms, however i have 2 questions.

    1. I would like to use without battery as well.

If so, TD pin high is correct(with Battery and without Battery)?

    2. We also need the compliance to USB-IF Standard.

Is it enough for currently circuit?

    Sincerely Yours

    Seok

  • Hi Seok,

No worries, I will wait for the waveforms.

I would like to use without battery as well.

If so, TD pin high is correct(with Battery and without Battery)?

The TD pin does not affect the behavior of the OUT pin when the battery is not present. TD will affect termination and when it is pulled HIGH, it disables termination at the BAT pin.

We also need the compliance to USB-IF Standard.

Is it enough for currently circuit?

Yes, it looks like you have less than 10uF capacitance on the input. The BQ24230 is USB-IF compliance and you have it configured for 500 mA in USB Mode.

    Best Regards,
