BQ27531-G1: programming 2 chemistry profiles

Part Number: BQ27531-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

hi Team,

customer is using the bq27531-G1 and plans to have two different types of batteries

we see that the bq27531-G1 supports 2 chemistry profiles Chem_ID_A Chem _ID_B shown by "[LU_PROF]" bit

questions.

1. how do they import two chem ID in to the bq27531-G1 DF? using bqStudio any pre setting required?

2. once they got the golden setting, do they use the .dffs file to program on other devices and will contain the 2 ID profiles?

3. how can they distinguish the inserted battery by the system? is there a battery part number or other parameters that can be read by the system?

Thanks

  • #1: The gauge uses two copies of the same ChemID. The ChemID differs with the resistance tables but the basic chemistry is the same. It's not intended to be used with two different OCV tables.

#2: Yes. The .dffs file contains the configuration to program other gauges with the same configuration.

#3: The gauge does this through resistance measurements. This is explained in detail in the TRM, https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluua96a/sluua96a.pdf, 7.1.2 Activities Upon Pack Insertion. There is no battery part number but there's the LU_PROF bit that indicates which profile the gauge chose.
