TLC5940: TLC5940 alternative

Part Number: TLC5940

Dear Sirs,

We need a 16-channel LED driver that will be capable to independently control PWM state of 16 different LED channels.

We have evaluated TLC5940 so far but we found the following inconveniences there:

  • Complicated interface with the host controller (SCLK, SIN, GSCLK, BLANK, XLAT lines)
  • There is a need to continuously send the desired PWM values for all 16 channels from host to the driver, even if we don't want to change the PWM values for the channels.
  • We need to apply high voltage (+24V) if we want to program on-chip EEPROM memory.

Would you me so kind to recommend us some PWM capable LED driver that will have:

  • Simplified interface with the host controller
  • The ability to keep the previously set PWM values of all channels without any host controller intervention. Host controller would just once send the command for setting PWM values of the channels and the driver chip will keep all the channels in desired PWM state until new command from the host controller is received.

?

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts.

Sincerely,
Bojan.
