Hi TI Flores,

I looked at the datasheet and found that the TOS6381x series has built-in descharge function and I'd like to ask how this function helps POL? (Except time sequence)

Is it to prevent the Mosfet from being burned?

The datasheet describes that when turning off, Vout must be close to 0V as quickly as possible.

Can you help with a complete explanation?

Besides, for POL without this function, is it recommended to put an external discharge schematic?

Hi,

It is not to protect FET. It is design to power down the output voltage faster as end of load requirements.

You can select the device with / without this feature with correct part number. You can calculate the time of discharge as internal resistor value is 50Ohm.

Is your application need faster discharge?
