TPS1HC100-Q1: FAULT PIN could not pull down when short circuit happened

Part Number: TPS1HC100-Q1

Hi team,

My customer is using TPS1HC100 and want to test it for short protection. When they short OUT to ground, the device seems not working normally on the fault pin value.

Yellow channel is for Fault pin, pink channel is for current, When short circuit happened, fault pin could fall low from 5V to 1.8V but never reached <1.8V. This causes MCU could not read the alarm .

But we can see clearly auto retry in current waveform. Is there any thing wrong on the FAULT PIN? How is this happened?

  • Hi Zoe,

Is this occurring on multiple devices or just one device? Is this behavior with fault only when the device is short to GND or does it also happen with current limit?

It looks like the fault pin is responding to the system and triggering low. The fault pin will pull to the internal IC_GND voltage. What is the voltage of the GND pin or the device?

    Thanks,

    Shreyas
