BQ24133: Layout Guide and Suggestion for Power path section of charging circuit

Hello TI Engineers,

Is there any layout guideline and suggestion regarding the power path section of the BQ24133.

We would like to move the VSYS (power path output) from the RED area of the PCB layout to the BLUE area. (See Photo Below)

What are some layout guidelines with moving the BATFET, ACFET, RBFET and RSNS.

In our PCB design we do not have the TP2 as well as the Reverse Input Protection circuit which is why we wanted to ask if we can move the VSYS in that location.

The application circuit section in the photo below is the same in our layout.

Hi Deniel,

Yes, SYS can be moved. There is no formal layout guidance, other than the EVM user's guide.

Hello Jeff,

Thanks for the response. I have some follow up questions.

In the EVM we have a trace/copper polygon from RSNS to VSYS in Layer 3 (inner layer 2).

Can we route that path in the TOP Layer instead?

Or can we route it both on the TOP Layer and Layer 3?

Or do we need to keep that path (RSNS to VSYS) in Layer 3 (inner layer 2)?

Hello Jeff,

It is layer 3 in the EVM (inner layer 2 in our PCB editor).

I have highlighted the polygon in blue. Picture shown below Same questions still apply

Can we route that path in the TOP Layer instead?

Or can we route it both on the TOP Layer and Layer 3?

Or do we need to keep that path (RSNS to VSYS) in Layer 3?

You can route on top or inner 2 or both.
