UCC27531-Q1: High-side and low-side driver for 48V EV battery system

Part Number: UCC27531-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27301A-Q1, UCC27311A-Q1, TIDA-01407, UCC27211A-Q1, DRV8300-Q1

Hi Team,

I'd like to ask you about the high-side and low-side driver for 48V EV battery system. I couldn't find these devices on TI website. Could you recommend the perfect devices or send the roadmap materials for me?

Regards,

  • Hey Jeffrey,

Thank you for your question about our portfolio.

It seems to me that you are referring to something that would fall into our half-bridge portfolio. For a 48V EV Battery Charger, the UCC27301A-Q1 may be more like what you are looking for. If you want to look around some, check out the half-bridge gate drivers which can be found at this Link.

Let me know if you have any more questions or if this isn't what you are looking for.

    Thank you,

    William Moore

  • Hi William,

I'm looking for the half-bridge gate drivers for 48V EV battery system like Tesla's EV power system. Are there any devices that will be released in the future?

    Regards,

  • Hey Jeffrey,

The UCC27301A-Q1 is in preview and releasing soon as our latest half-bridge driver for these applications. Are there any specific features that you are looking for that this may not cover?

The UCC27311A-Q1 is also in preview to be released soon and is very similar to the UCC27301A-Q1 but it does not feature interlock.

    Thank you,

    William Moore

  • Hi William,

Vcc(max) should be 65V or over 65V. I think that there are no devices on new TI portfolio. Thanks for your support.

    Regards,

  • Hey Jeffrey,

You are correct, we do not have a half-bridge driver with a VCC, VDD, or bias supply rating of 65V. Are you looking for VCC rating or bus voltage rating here?

VCC is not typically tied to bus voltage on these drivers unless the bus voltage is 48V.

If you need a device that accepts a 48V bias supply, you might be able to find something in the isolated gate drivers portfolio.

We have some of our non-isolated half-bridge drivers in Tesla's 48V systems.

Here is a reference design using one of the our half-bridge drivers (UCC27211A-Q1) in a 48V to 12V system. It is TIDA-01407 and can be found at this link.

Is this the type of system you are working with? If not, could you share a block diagram of an example schematic of what you are wanting to do and maybe I can suggest a product for it?

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you,

    William Moore

  • Hi William,

The customer has verified DRV3255/56-Q1 and DRV8300-Q1 for motor driving, but they are trying to change the full bridge structure with 2 half bridges. So I will recommend 48V G/D as I told you above instead of half bridge solutions. Thanks for your support.
