TPS61163A: OUT short to GND protection vs. LM3508

Part Number: TPS61163A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3508

Dear team,

LM3508 has the feature described in D/S P12"Output Short Circuit Protection". This feature is due to the PFET series to output but  is TPS61163A able to support kind of this feature?

I am afraid that L1 or D1 would be broken when LED shorts to GND. I also think OCP of TPS61163A can help this situation but not sure.

>>"The LM3508 provides a short circuit protection that limits the output current if OUT is shorted to PGND. During a short at OUT when VOUT falls to below VIN × 0.93, switching will stop. The PMOS will turn into a current source and limit the output current to 35mA. The LM3508 can survive with a continuous short at the output".

Best regards,
Yuto
