LMR14030-Q1: EMI and ASIL rating

Part Number: LMR14030-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM63635-Q1, LMR14030

Hi,

Can you confirm whether LMR14030-Q1 is equivalent to ASL B rated IC. If not, could you please explain why not?

Could you recommend and ASIL rated IC with the same/EMI performance

Thank you in advance

  • Hi Arno,

This part is not ASIL Rated nor Functional Safety-Capable

The LM63635-Q1 has similar characteristics to the LMR14030-Q1. However, please note that the LM63635-Q1 is a Functional Safety-Capable device and not a Functional Safety-Compliant device.

Functional Safety-Capable devices do not have comprehensive safety functions integrated in them, they do not have the internal monitoring and diagnostic features . For this device we can provide key information, like functional safety FIT rates and FMD, for customer to use in their safety analysis and build a Functional Safety-Compliant systemWe can only provide functional safety documentation with FIT rates and FMD information. It is up to the customer to ensure that the design meets the necessary requirements to meet ASIL-B compliance.

    Thank you,

    Joshua Austria

  • Hi Joshua,

Thank you for your swift response. I understand what you have explained in terms of the IC being FS capable and not compliant.

From what you have said, can I infer that it is not possible to make the LMR14030 compliant? I would be grateful if you can explain why.

I would also be grateful if you could send me the FIT and FMD data for both of the ICs.

    Thank you
    Arno FXB

  • Hi Arno,

It is not impossible, but without functional safety compliance it may be difficult to accomplish this with the LMR14030.

The LMR14030 does not have FIT and FMD data available. The LM63635-Q1 has this data on its product page. Here is the link for your convenience: FIT Rate and FMD

    Thank you,

    Joshua Austria

  • Hi Joshua,

For my understanding, what makes the LM63635 capable and the LMR not capable? what is the difference which makes the the LMR more difficult?

  • Hi Arno,

For the LMR14030, we do not have any FIT and FMD data available. The LM63635 does. This extra information for the LM63635 may help in ensuring the safety and compliance of your system as a whole. Granted I do not know what the specifications of your system is, but TI has the FIT and FMD data for the LM63635 that might aid in meeting your system requirement. However, TI is not responsible for the compliance of your system as a whole.

    Thank you,

    Joshua Austria
