REF3430: outs and outf

Part Number: REF3430

In the application note of ref34xx I see this picture where OUTS and OUTF are shorted on the board.
Is that necessary to make it works or there is already an internal connection  ?

  • Hello,

OUT_F and OUT_S are not internally connected. While these pins are typically shorted, there are a few applications which use an op amp or transistor on the output where OUT_F and OUT_S may not be shorted. The REF3430 datasheet section 10.2.2.2 explains in detail how we typically see these pins used.

If only one output pin is needed, you could consider REF3430TIDBVR:

It has the same performance as REF3430IDBVR.

How are you wanting to use the OUT_F and OUT_S pins in your application?

    Thanks,

    Jackson

  • Hi Jackson,

Thanks for the feedback, I found later that my question was kind of answered as part of another post.

How we plan to use it ?

We plan to use the device to avoid the IR drop on the outf, which the way is supposed to be used.
The application notes shows a short close the outputs which kind defeat the purpose of having outs and outf as separate outputs.

  • That is correct. To avoid the IR drop, short OUT_F and OUT_S as close to the load as possible.
