UCC24612: Synchronous rectifier solution UCC24612 driver output problem

Part Number: UCC24612
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28600,

Hi,

The customer used UCC28600 to make a quasi-resonant flyback switching power supply, and UCC24612 to make a secondary side synchronous rectification control.

The problem now is that the UCC24612 only works when it is started (output rectified NMos driver), and then it does not work (no driver signal output).

See the attachment for the schematic diagram and the test waveform.

  • Hello,

Your inquiry is under review and I will get back to you shortly.

  • Hello,

You need to study VDD, VG and the voltage across the VD and VS pin of the UCC24612 to try to figure out why the device is not providing gate drive pulses.

    Possible issues are:

    1. VDD is not high enough

    2. Ids*Rdson is not high enough to demand a gate drive pulse

    3. Noise across the VD and VS pin is causing false triggering

    4. Gate driver noise is causing the FET to misbehave.

I would restudy the VDD, VG and voltage across VD and VS to see if the device is operating as it should.

    Regards,
