[FAQ] BQ25620: How does QON pin function work and what is required hold low timing?

Part Number: BQ25620

The QON pin on the BQ2562x family of devices has 2 functions, which are both controlled by pulling QON low for a certain amount of time. These 2 functions are exit ship mode (i.e. BATFET enable) and system power reset.

The timing specification for these functions are shown below and cannot be modified via register configuration.

The shorter QON low time (tsm_exit) will exit from ship mode and the longer QON low time (tQON_RST) will initiate a system power reset by briefly power cycling the BATFET.

Please note the maximum spec is the longest possible time required to trigger the function. It does not mean QON is not allowed to be held low for a longer period of time. As an example to ensure the device exits ship mode across all devices QON should be held low for longer than 0.93 sec.
