TPS22992: Vbias and Vin

Hi Team,

Could you please help confirm whether TPS22992 can work normally when Vin>Vbias? Such as Vbias=3.3V, Vin=5V. Thanks.

Hi Hailiang,

TPS22992 can work when Vin>Vbias, but doing so would put it outside of the recommended operating conditions and within the absolute maximum ratings, so it is not recommended. I recommend using a device where Vin can be larger than Vbias, such as TPS22997.

Hi Patrick,

Short circuit protection is necessary, so TPS22997 is not ok. Is there any other suggestion? And pls check and comments is there any potential risk if Vin > Vbias with TPS22992. Thanks.

Hi Hailiang,

Sorry for the delay on this. Does TPS22950 work? It has short circuit protection, but does not have separated BIAS and VIN.

Long-term reliability can be jeopardized if TPS22992 VBIAS > VIN, as it would be operating outside of Recommended Operating Conditions.
