Thanks for using the e2e forum.

The recommended softstart time highly depends on the chosen output capacitance. All output caps should be fully charged without overcurrent spikes before the softstart is finished. For calculating softstart values, you can use our LM5156 quickstart calculation tool:

Yes, the gate voltage comes from the VCC voltage.
