ISO5852S-EP: ISO5852S-EP

Part Number: ISO5852S-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC21750

Hi Team,

We are using the part number ISO5852-EP. Followings are the technical question for the same part.

1. As per data sheet (VIT+UVLO) is typ-12V , Max-13V and (VIT-UVLO) is typ-9.5V to max-11V. so, question is if we are using the VCC2 supply 12V with +/- 0.2%. will it be ok to use it ? Please give your suggestion and if you have any more technical details UVLO typical and worst case please share it with us.

2. is there any other pin drop replacement with similar kind of Gate driver series with lower UVLO 8-9V  ( Note that we do have 12V +/- 0.2% power supply available in PCB). Please suggest any part or series.

Regards,

Hardik

  • Hi Hardik,

Thanks for your interest with ISO5852-EP driver. As the max is 13V, some of the driver's UVLO can be up to 13V, so its little risk to consider 12V bias. (as well to ensure the driver functionality across temperature).

Looks like other available pin-pin mapped Isolated gate drivers are all have similar UVLO requirement.

Please refer https://www.ti.com/power-management/gate-drivers/isolated-gate-drivers/products.html?keyMatch=ISOLATED%20GATE%20DRIVER page for choosing different available isolated gate drivers.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for your reply.

as per your suggestion part number UCC21750 is having the Vdd_on min 10.5V , typ-12V and Max -12.8V.

but i checked in the driver list share by you. I got another part number UCC21738, which is having the VDD_ON Min 10.5V, Typ- 11.4V, Max-12.8V. Looks like part number UCC21738 should be ok with 12V VDD supply as a pin to pin alternative of ISO5852.Please confirm that and give your suggestion for the same.

I am not able to find the spice model of UCC21738. could you please help me to get the spice model of the same ? if you have any test results of UCC21738 with 12V VDD operating condition please share it with us.

    Regards,

    Hardik

  • Hi Hardik,

I realized that all UCC217xx family of devices also have max UVLO of ~12.8V, so there is a risk in using it for 12V VCC as its below max UVLO. (esp if the application to be run across temperature).

I realized it and corrected my initial posting.

UCC21738 - family has only one general spice model under UCC21750 (as most of the features are same)

    Thanks
