TPS1H200A-Q1: max voltage at delay pin

Part Number: TPS1H200A-Q1

Dear team,

I would need some clarification on the voltage rating for the Delay pin. We plan to use the switch in stand alone auto retry mode. In this case 100kOhm resistor shall be connected from the VS to the delay pin. See figure 7-9 in the datasheet. The voltage is shown to go as high as 40V. The abs max ratings for the delay pin describe 7Vmax. Can you please clarify the mechanism behind and why we still can connect this to 40V. This is not really clear from the datasheet.

many thanks

Lutz

  • Lutz,

I see where the confusion lies-

Over the recommended operating voltages of the device the 100k resistor can be used and the pin will never exceed 7V.  This is mainly to prevent an internal ESD diode from biasing on the pin. We don't share specific details about the internal implementation, however if 100k is used then the device will be able to operate reliably within specification.

    Best Regards,
    Tim
