TPSI3052-Q1: Capability to maintain output voltage

Part Number: TPSI3052-Q1

Team,

can you confirm that the following understanding from my customer is correct?

-----------------------------
I was presuming that this IC was capable of keeping the output voltage level +15V DC (without switching cycle) by keeping the primary side “EN” input 5V (for example in three-wire mode) as a solid-state relay application oriented product. It is not explicitly clear though from the datasheet if that is the case.

  • Hello Franziskus,

Thanks for reaching out to our team on E2E. Your customer’s understanding is correct, since there is charge stored in the CDIVx capacitors, every time the driver output goes high, that stored charge is then shared with the MOSFET’s total gate charge spec (can be modeled as a capacitor using CVDRV = Qg/VDRV) to drive the MOSFET high. Whether this happens once (single high EN) or many times (as with switching frequency), this charge sharing process occurs each time. Please let us know if there are further questions.

    Best regards,
