BQ24721C Datasheet Confusion

I'm reading the BQ24721C datasheet, and have a question regarding the Bypass FET. The "typical application" figures look to contradict the description of the Bypass FET. I think the description is correct, but wanted to check before moving forward. Thank you.

  • Both the bq24721C typical application schematic and Bypass FET paragraph in the datasheet are correct.  The purpose of the FET is to keep the battery current from flowing to the adaptor when the adaptor voltage is low.  This is a P-ch FET, so you should connect the FET drain to the adaptor input voltage, the FET source to the bq24721C ACP pin, and the FET gate to the /BYPASS pin.   Note that the April 2009 datasheet /BYPASS pin description is incorrect.

    The /ACDRV typical application schematic and pin description is correct.
