LM5169: Design review

Part Number: LM5169

Hello,

My customer requested TI's review of the LM5169 design.

Please review their design below to see if there are any problems.

Thank you.

  • Hi JH,

Thank you for posting.  The schematic basically looks okay.  Please consider the following:

    1. Reserve a bulk capacitor position for the input filter in case you need it after test.

    2. Remove R125 (1k across SW and GND).  I don't see the purpose of having this resistor.

    3. Cross R127 out.  More unnecessary components around the IC take the space and make routing of critical traces harder.

    4. Reserve a dummy resistor across the isolated 3.3V output, or use a Zener, to cover no load condition.

    5.  Delete R134 if you plan to use the ripple injection network.

    6. Consider to place 100nF or 10nF in each of the output rail to cope with switching noises at high frequency.

    7. Reserve an RC snubber across D1.

    8. Please follow our fly-buck evm example when you design your PCB.

    Thanks,

    Youhao
