Hi team,

I am trying to upload the charge-discharge cycle file for BQ34Z100 on the GPCCHEM tool but the tool shows errors which are not present in the file.

Kindly tell me what 5086.BQ34Z100_chemID_datalog_V1.zipcan be the issue.

Hi Shreya,

Both discharge curves I have graphed below from the data you sent.

5086- has multiple current and voltage spikes, this will cause errors.

5086 -

3175 - this curve looks much better than the 5086 curve but still has spikes that will cause errors.

3175 -

Below is an example of what the discharge curve should look like for a successful chemid match.

Please refence this document it has information on how to successfully use the gpcchem tool - Simple Guide to Chemical ID Selection Tool (GPC) (Rev. A)

Hi,

I do not believe so.

But if the GPCCHEM tool and it returns a ChemID with 3% DOD error, then you can use that ChemID.

Hi Evan,

PFA the chem ID report generated by the tool. The issue is the suggested ID 5942 is not found in the chemistry table in BQStudio. Kindly tell me how can I program the fuel gauge BQ34Z100 for my chem ID.

I tried uploading the report file in BQStudio but it does not seem to work as well.

Hi,

The ChemID should be available in the most recent chem updater, please download from the link below and place in the files in config file in the BQstudio folder on your computer.

Hi Evan,

The chemistry files in the zip file in the above link were copied to the Battery management studio firmware chemistry folder on my system. I could find chem IDs 5943 and 5941 but could not find the ID 5942.

Kindly suggest me how should I proceed?

Hi Shreya,

Sorry for the confusion, I have just checked and ChemID 5942 is in the most recent ChemUpdater. The reason you are still unable to find it is because I had previously said to place the files in the config folder, this is wrong, the Chemdat files need to be replaced in the chemistry folder. You should then be able to find your chemid.

I did replace it in the CHEMISTRY folder indeed. After that when I opened BQStudio, I could not find this chemID.

Hi Shreya,

If you followed all steps above chemID 5942 should be there, I am unsure why it is not.

Attached is ChemID 5942 :)

Save your current .gg file, upload the file attached, then reupload your .gg file.

I found the chemID but programming it on my fuel gauge throws error 1721.

Hi Evan,

The error got resolved and I understand the steps required to program the gauge. The issue faced currently is that when I try flashing my .srec file, sometimes the BQStudio application stops responding and gauge gets disconnected. After this, I cannot communicate to the gauge at all even after multiple attempts.

I am not sure if this happens because I changed the procedure for file uploading and replacing the .bqz file sometimes.

Hi Evan,

After flashing a few times with my .srec and .bq.fs file, the gauge is not even being detected by BQStudio, so yeah no I2C communication ever happens after that.

Hi Evan,

I tried coming out of ROM mode as mentioned above, but the thing is even after connecting to SMBUS i cannot detect the device (which implies communication not happening i think), and hence I cannot pass command 0x08 even after I open BQSTUDIO with a random .bqz file. The gauge remains unresponsive for both I2C and SMBUS.

Hi Shreya,

I am saying on pin 11 TS/P6 is the voltage pulsing or is it constant if there is no pulse your device is most likely damaged if it is not in ROM mode.
