LM5118-Q1: 48V battery system input to 45V output

Hi expert,

Customer evaluating 48V automotive system, they request a 45V output to support for their audio system, output power need about 450W.

Does LM5118-Q1 OK to support this power?

Beside LM5118-Q1, do we get any more suitable part to do this?

Hi Will,

the LM5118 will have to high losses on the rectifier diodes. You should select a sync 4 switch buck boost controller.

E.g. LM5176 or LM5177 or LM51772

For an output power you may need to select a multiphase design or consider additional cooling.

Thanks for your comments.

Customer use in automotive application, consider some buffer, may need higher voltage part.

Based on your experience, do you get any automotive part recommendation?

Hi Will,

the LM5176-Q1 is available as automotive qualified.

The LM51772 is on the roadmap as automotive qualified device.
