Please let me know, TPS65987D PD controller can configure the MUX (TUSB1046-DCI) as per below requirements automatically(CC pins detect the configuration and PD control firmware automatically configure the MUX in one port USB3.1 with flip and 4 lane DP with Flip).

Yes, the TPS65987D can configure the TUSB1046 either through GPIO or I2C using the TPS6598x Application Tool (GUI).

Please see the following application notes:

1- Using I2C Master in TPS65987D and TPS65988 PD Controllers (See section 5 Configuring I2C Master for TUSB546 Alternate Mode Linear Redriver Crosspoint Switch)

2- PD Alternate Mode: DisplayPort (See section 3.1 DFP_D with TUSB1046 Settings)

Hi Aya Khedr,

My question is - will TI provide TPS65987d firmware to automatic switch the mux above two configurations or we have to change the firmware as per our needs?

Hi Sagar,

The TPS65987D digital core contains the ROM memory which contains all the necessary firmware required to execute Type-C and PD applications. In addition to the ROM firmware, the GUI generates a binary image which contains all the customizations and configurations needed for specific applications. To answer your question, you will need to configure the GUI as per your design requirement (the application notes provided demonstrate how to do so).
