USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM: FTDI functions installed in EVM

Part Number: USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987D, TPS65987DDK, EK-TM4C123GXL, TPS65987

Dear Sirs and Madams,

We are thinking of implementing the functions of a USB Type-C PD controller using USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM as a reference.

After referring to the "USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM User's Guide", I understand that FTDI operates as a USB-SPI/I2C bridge as shown in the diagram below:

If we create our own original board and use "TPS659xx Application Customization Tool" for debugging, we believe that FTDI functionality will be necessary.

So I have two questions.

(1) Is it preferable to use I2C1(slave) for the I2C port of TPS65987D?

(2) We're thinking of creating the FT4232 on a separate board, then is it possible to obtain FTDI EEPROM data?

Regards,

MM
