TPS56837: Maximum capacitance on output

Hi

Howcome theres a limit on the recommended capacitance on the output from TPS56837 according to datasheet (220uF)?

If this is a hard limit, then this can become a problem, if the converter is driving an unknown circuit, with an unknown capacitance on its power inlet.

The internal output discharge, does it has a role in this?

    Hi Thomas

    This is a recommended value and is not hard limit. The inner compensation network are designed based on the normal range of Lout and Cout selections to optimize the stability and dynamic characteristics. and the validation tests are did based on the recommended external components. Values around this range is ok. If the users want to use extremely large Cout , they might need to do some test and make and check if the circuit operates well.
